The windows in my house are an Arts and Crafts style. We have dark cherry wood trim work and crown moldings that match our floors. The walls are an oyster shell white color, so there is a lot of contrast. Can I put curtains in a room with that style? It has no window treatments currently, as I've never seen curtains with this architectural style.

Fine woodwork and gorgeous window treatments can coexist beautifully. You just have to make sure that each has plenty of room to reach their full potential. In this case, I would go completely Roman (shades, that is). Roman shades fit inside of a window's frame, so they will not conceal any of that fine trim. But they also have their own lovely sensuality in the form of gorgeous undulating folds that will make a good counterpoint to the straight lines of the arts and crafts style. As for color, it depends on the rest of your decor, but perhaps a vibrant accent hue such as red, blue, fuchsia, yellow to add to add a nice burst of playfulness to your home.
