Holiday Decorating Tips
Transitioning from festive fall décor to wintery cheer can be stressful. Here are simple suggestions to help you deck your halls with grace and ease.
- Select neutral colored or patterned draperies. Changing window treatments with the seasons can easily refresh a roof. Choose colors for the fall and winter season that will pair well with both earthy fall hues and wintery whites. Consider ivory, gold, or beige.
- Choose your color palette. Simple color swaps can signal the transition from fall to winter. Move away from earthen tones of brown, goldenrod and burgundy and choose navy, gold, green, cranberry or ivory. Decorate with simple pieces like colored candles, throw pillows, or even cheery Christmas lights.
- Use natural accents. This season is abundant with color. Decorate with fresh cranberries or fresh herbs like rosemary and sage for a pop of color and scent! Spray paint pine cones in your chosen color palette for quick, easy accents.
- Find new uses for ornaments. Delicate, glass or heirloom ornaments don’t have to be relegated to your tree. Group like colored glass bulbs together on a tray or in a bowl for an accent piece on the coffee table. Hang colorful ornaments on ribbon and tie the ribbons along your staircase railing for bright, fun decoration.
